What it means

Salary is only part of what a person costs a business. A common rule of thumb puts the fully loaded cost at 1.25 to 1.4 times salary.

Pricing meetings and projects on salary alone understates them.

Example

Jordan earns $150,000 and is aiming for $250,000. 2,080 working hours a year.
Salary$130,000
× 1.25 to 1.4$162,500 to $182,000
Per hour (2,080)$78 to $88
